SUBSTANCE: invention relates to automated systems for performing technological operations. Method for transportation of containers consists in the fact that determining the number and location of target containers, as well as the number and location of blocking containers in the main stack by means of a computer system for controlling the port container terminal and a sequence of control characters. Sequence is generated by a deterministic state machine. Additionally, location of stack with target container nearest to loader is determined. Loader is moved to the longitudinal row of this stack by the shortest path. Locking stack containers are removed by loader. Blocking containers standing on the target container are taken out. Said target container is taken out and transported to an auxiliary stack. Locking containers are returned to the main stack. Remaining target containers are removed in the same way.

EFFECT: reduction in labour intensity for technological operations and an increase in the safety of forklift operation are achieved.
