FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a ceramic material used in electrical switching devices, in which, when disconnected, it is required to extinguish high-temperature electric arcs and can be widely used in urban electric transport and electric networks, locomotives and railway networks. Ceramic material for electrical switching devices contains components in the following ratio, wt.%: Al2O3 in form of corundum 14–23.8, cordierite (2MgO-2Al2O3-5SiO2) 50–70, mullite (3Al2O3-2SiO2) 16–26.2. When making ceramic material, a plasticiser is added to the mixture, molding is carried out under pressure, the plasticiser is removed from the charge and annealed at temperature of 1410 °C.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of arc suppression and reliability due to improved arc resistance and heat resistance of ceramic material.
