FIELD: ceramic production.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a technology for the production of cordierite products (substrates) that can be used as a catalytic neutralizer carrier of systems for reducing toxicity of exhaust gases of internal combustion engines (ICE). Material is obtained from a mixture of a magnesium-containing component (talc, serpentinite) heat-treated at a temperature higher than its decomposition temperature, as well as kaolinite-containing and alumina-containing components. Mixture components of 35-50 wt.% of the magnesium-containing component – talc, heat-treated at a temperature of 1000°C, 35-52 wt.% of the kaolinite-containing component and 9-30 wt.% of aluminum-containing component in the form of aluminum oxide or hydroxide are subjected to joint wet thin grinding at total moisture of 40-60% to a particle size of less than 10 mcm, the resulting slurry is dehydrated to a moisture of 15-28%, plastically molded, dried to a moisture of no more than 1% and calcinated at a temperature of 1300-1360°C with exposure for 10-30 h. Cordierite products are obtained with porosity of 30-38%, containing 90-97 wt.% of cordierite and 2-9 wt.% of mullite.
EFFECT: expansion of the arsenal of technical means for the production of porous ceramic substrates of cordierite.
