SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical equipment. Device for maintaining the body temperature of an animal with the possibility of fixing the head comprises a tabletop, stereotactic apparatus, a heating component, a control unit and a power supply. Tabletop contains a flat platform and is installed on vertical columns with central through holes for screws for attachment to the working surface. Tabletop has through holes for screws and nuts for screws are mounted coaxially with them for fixing the stereotactic apparatus to the tabletop. Under the tabletop there is an earthed screen from electromagnetic interference made of a conductive material in the form of a cover covering the heating component. Earthed screen has the ability to prevent propagation of electromagnetic waves emitted by cement resistors of the heating component. Stereotactic apparatus includes a chamber, vertical posts and screws, the chamber is configured to be attached to the animal’s skull using a cement mortar laid between the animal’s skull and the lower plane of the chamber, in the centre of the chamber there is a hole for access to the brain of the animal. At corners of the chamber there are semicircular cutouts for screws. Chamber is equipped with a system of tubes: for the liquid supply to the animal brain surface, for the reference electrode and for the liquid suction from the animal brain surface, chamber is installed on vertical posts with central through holes for screws and is attached to tabletop with nuts. Heating component contains in-series connected cement resistors with an interlayer of thermal paste and a heat-distributing plate of heat-conducting material for heat transfer to the tabletop, cement resistors with an interlayer of thermal paste are attached to a heat-distributing plate, which is mounted in the rear part of the tabletop. Control unit comprises a system for controlling the device for maintaining body temperature of the animal and a heating controller. System for controlling the device for maintaining body temperature of the animal includes a display for showing the current and target heating temperature and an encoder for changing the target heating temperature to a lower or higher side when the encoder is rotated counterclockwise or clockwise, respectively. Display and encoder are mounted in control unit and connected to controller, heating controller is a proportional-integral-differentiating controller and includes a controller and a digital temperature sensor mounted in the back of the tabletop with the possibility of transmitting current heating temperature values to the controller, controller is connected to transistor with possibility of its operation control. Transistor is connected to 12 V unit through the power socket and to the cement resistors through the rectifying voltage LC filter with the possibility of controlling the degree of heating of the cement resistors. Between the control unit and the tabletop there is an electrical connection by a wire which is connected to the digital temperature sensor and cement resistors on the side of the tabletop. Control unit is connected to personal computer to change controller software. Power supply includes a power supply unit 12 V, a power socket and voltage stabilizer 12 V – 5 V, 12 V power supply unit is connected to the control unit through the power socket with the possibility of supplying the cement resistors with voltage of 12 V through the transistor and LC filter, and controller is supplied with voltage 5 through voltage stabilizer 12 V – 5 V. Disclosed is a method for maintaining body temperature of an animal with fixation of the head, which is carried out using the device.

EFFECT: higher efficiency of surgical operations on animals due to fixed head fixation.
