FIELD: measurement technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of determining mechanical properties of materials, namely to methods of determining Poisson ratio and contact friction coefficient. Sample is compressed between parallel plates of loading device, change of sample length and displacement field of lateral surface of sample, then from analytical solution of inverse problem or finite element solution of direct problem of elasticity theory on axial compression of cylinder with friction at ends, providing a relationship between the displacement field of the side surface and the Poisson ratio and friction coefficients, the Poisson ratio and friction coefficients are calculated.
EFFECT: significant reduction of labor intensity and material consumption of tests, simplification of joint determination of Poisson ratio and contact friction coefficients.
