FIELD: methods and apparatus for producing or collecting water.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices for producing fresh water from water vapours contained in ambient air, and can be used to obtain fresh water mainly in coastal areas with seas. Device consists of a container with an open top immersed into a reservoir with sea water so that its walls extend beyond the surface of the water and prevent ingress of spray from its waves inside the container. Inside the container there is a through channel for sea water flow, located between two opposite walls of the container and arranged so that one end of the channel is located at the water surface, and the other one is below with an inclination within range of 20–45°. Cross-section of the channel has the shape of a triangle, the base of which faces the bottom of the container, and the top – to the surface of the water reservoir. Length of the triangle base is less than the width of the container in the direction perpendicular to the arrangement of the channel. Angle between lateral edges of triangle lies within 90–140°. Wind energy converter actuator is arranged in the immediate vicinity of the above end of the channel in sea water, which is a rotating shaft with a blade mechanism for pumping seawater into the channel. Wind energy converter is attached from the outside to the side surface of the container by means of a fastening device. At the bottom of the container there is a vessel for fresh water. Container is located at the surface of the water reservoir by floats. In addition to the through channel for sea water flow there is an additional through channel for sea water flow, which is identical in shape and dimensions to the first one and is located mirror to it in relation to the central vertical plane. In close proximity to it, at its end located above, there is an additional wind energy converter fixed from the outside to the side surface of the container due to an additional fastening device. In the area of channels intersection, they have a common volumetric part.
EFFECT: increased area of condensation of the device and increased volume of produced fresh water.
