FIELD: methods and apparatus for producing or collecting water.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices for producing fresh water from water vapours contained in ambient air, and can be used to obtain fresh water mainly in coastal areas with seas. Device consists of a container with an open top immersed into a sea water body so that its walls extend beyond the surface of the water. Inside the container there is a through channel for sea water flow, located between two opposite walls of the container and arranged so that one end of the channel is located at the water surface, and the other one is lower with an inclination within range of 20–45°. Cross-section of the channel has the shape of a triangle, the base of which faces the bottom of the container, and the top faces the surface of the water body. Length of the triangle base is less than the width of the container in the direction perpendicular to the arrangement of the channel. Angle between lateral edges of triangle lies within 90–140°. Wave energy converter is placed in the immediate vicinity of the above end of the channel in sea water. Wave energy converter is attached from outside to side surface of container. At the bottom of the container there is a vessel for fresh water. Container is located at the surface of the water body by floats. From the end of the channel located at the surface of sea water, there are through branches ending at the opposite wall of the container, which are identical in shape and size to the channel itself, the number of which varies from one to three. Through branches are located at angles of 5, 10 and 15 degrees respectively to the lower surface of the channel.
EFFECT: increased area of condensation of the device and increased volume of produced fresh water.
