FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of protective paints suitable for printing machine-readable security features on a substrate, protected documents or articles, as well as to the field of machine-readable security features made from said security paints, and to the field of security documents containing a machine-readable security feature made from said security paints. Protective paint contains one or more IR-absorbing materials, wherein the said protective paint enables to obtain a machine-readable security feature having the following optical properties: lightness L* is equal to or greater than 80, chromaticity C* is less than or equal to 15 and reflection coefficient at 900 nm is less than or equal to 60%. Viscosity of the protective paint ranges from 10 mPa⋅s up to 3000 MPa⋅s at 25 °C.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain protective paints which have high chemical resistance and high reflection coefficient in the visible range.
