FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing a mixed oxide of lithium and a transition metal containing zirconium-containing oxides obtained by a pyrogenic method, suitable for use as a material for an active positive electrode in lithium batteries, to a mixed lithium oxide and a transition metal obtained using this method, and to use of such mixed lithium oxide and transition metal. Pyrogenically obtained zirconium dioxide or mixed oxides containing zirconium, can be successfully used for coating synthetic precursors of mixed oxides of lithium and transition metal, such as oxides of transition metals, hydroxides of transition metals or oxyhydroxides of transition metals. Mixed oxides of lithium and transition metals obtained from such precursors are characterized by a uniform distribution of zirconium oxide particles and small size of zirconium oxide particles, which makes them suitable for use as materials for active positive electrode in lithium batteries.
EFFECT: improvement of characteristics at cyclic mode of operation of lithium accumulator batteries.
