FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: according to the method, a fraction containing lithium transition metal oxides, wherein the transition metals are nickel, cobalt and/or manganese, with an aluminum content of up to 5 % by weight or those of nickel, cobalt and/or aluminum metals and a particle size of up to 500 mcm is introduced into sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid with the addition of hydrogen peroxide, the metals are converted into a soluble form at temperatures ranging from 35 to 70 °C. Resulting solution containing lithium salts and salts of said transition metals is separated. Remaining precipitate is washed, the separated solution of salts and washing solutions containing salts are combined. Transition metals are precipitated as hydroxides in the pH range of 9 to 11, separated and washed, and the remaining solutions containing lithium sulfate are combined and converted into lithium hydroxide by electrodialysis using bipolar membranes.
EFFECT: method for hydrometallurgical extraction of lithium, nickel and cobalt from the fraction of galvanic cells used is proposed.
