FIELD: various technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to processing of wastes, namely lead-containing wastes, and can be used for processing of active mass of plates of used lead-acid accumulator batteries. Lead-containing wastes are dissolved in an aqueous solution of a first acid to form a solution of a first lead salt. Citric acid is added to the solution of the first lead salt in an amount of up to 0.67 mol of citric acid per 1 mol of lead ions to form a lead-depleted solution and a precipitate of the second lead salt. Precipitate of the second lead salt is converted to lead oxide, wherein the first lead salt has higher solubility in water than the second lead salt. Obtained lead oxide is used to make plates of accumulator batteries in a lead-accumulator battery.
EFFECT: obtaining pure lead oxide suitable for direct application in plates of accumulator batteries, without using large excess of reagents.
