FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves coating positive and negative plates with active material prepared from oxidized lead powder and sulfuric acid solution. Novelty is that plates are impregnated in alkali metal hydroxide solution for a certain time prior to drying them. Dried-out accumulator plates are placed in forming tank filled with sulfuric acid electrolyte or in assembled storage batteries. Proposed method provides for reducing forming time and power requirement by 1.5-2 times and for improving quality of active material on both positive and negative plates which is free from blister on negative plates and from sulfate spots on positive ones. Active material is not spalling during manufacture and in service. EFFECT: improved quality of active material; provision for forming accumulator plates without gas emission. 6 dwg, 3 ex
