SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for modifying lignin and relates to nitrosation of sulphate lignin, which expands the possibilities for its practical use, for example, as a synthetic rubber booster in production of ceramics, plastics, dimethyl sulphide. Method for nitrosation of sulphate lignin involves mixing an aqueous solution of sodium nitrite, a solution of sulphate lignin in an organic solvent and adding an acid reagent, followed by holding the reaction mixture, wherein the organic solvent used is dimethyl sulphoxide, and the acid reagent used is a cation-exchange resin.

EFFECT: obtaining nitrosated sulphate lignin, which does not contain cation impurities, and carrying out the reaction under homogeneous conditions with high efficiency of the process.
