SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of carrying out an ion exchange process in molecular sieves. Method involves contacting a molecular sieve with a salt containing mono-, di- or trivalent cations, washing and drying and is characterized by that the ion exchange process is carried out in the absence of free water, wherein the contacting is fed with an air-dry molecular sieve, salt and water, based on the amount of water equal to the moisture capacity of the selected molecular sieve, and when the content of the exchangeable cation in the salt solution is equal to from equimolar to 4-fold molar excess, relative to the content of the cation in the molecular sieve, which is subject to ion exchange, with subsequent maintenance of the obtained mixture at temperature of 100-200 °C for 0.25–24 hours.
EFFECT: increased degree of exchange with reduced number of process steps and used reagents, as well as wider range of initial types of molecular sieves suitable for ion exchange at high temperatures.
