FIELD: medicine; pharmacology.
SUBSTANCE: present group of inventions relates to pharmacology, specifically to the use of a compound of formula (II) and a composition thereof for preparing a drug and for the treatment of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) or alcoholic steatohepatitis (ASH), as well as to a method of slowing down hepatic fibrosis. Use of an unsaturated fatty acid with oxygen included in the β-position, and additionally containing α-substituent with the structure of a compound of formula (II), where R1 is selected from C10-C22 alkenyl having 3–6 double bonds; R2 and R3 are identical or different and are selected from a group consisting of a hydrogen atom and an alkyl group; X is a carboxylic acid or derivative thereof, wherein the derivative is a carboxylate such as a carboxylic ester; glyceride; or carboxamide; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, is carried out in the therapeutic and/or preventive treatment of NASH or ASH. Application of the compound of formula (II) slows down or prevents development of hepatic fibrosis or reduces existing hepatic fibrosis.
EFFECT: providing a method of treating NASH or ASH to a subject in need thereof.
