FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely neurology and psychiatry, and can be used for the differential diagnosis of epileptic seizures and psychogenic non-epileptic seizures with motor manifestations. The level of cortisol in the blood serum (COR) collected within an hour after the attack, the time of onset of the attack (TIME), the moment of onset of the attack during sleep (SLEEP) are determined. With a COR value equal to or more than 600 nmol / l, "5 points" are assigned, with a value from 500 to 599 nmol / l - "4 points", with a value from 400 to 499 nmol / l - "3 points", with a value from 300 to 399 nmol / l - "2 point", at a value of less than 300 nmol / l - "1 point". TIME is assigned "3 points" if the paroxysmal event occurred in the morning from 6:00 to 10:59, "1 point" - if the attack occurred in the daytime from 11:00 to 15:59, "-1 point" - if the attack occurred in the evening- night time in the period from 16:00 to 5:59. SLEEP is assigned "2 points" if the attack occurred during sleep, without first waking up. The points obtained are summarized and the integral indicator Sz is determined: Sz = COR + TIME + SLEEP. If the Sz value is "4 or more points", then an epileptic seizure is diagnosed, if the Sz value is "less than 4 points", then a psychogenic non-epileptic seizure with motor manifestations is diagnosed.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to determine the genesis of the paroxysmal condition with high accuracy without conducting instrumental diagnostic studies, which allows you to choose an adequate therapeutic approach in a timely manner, by determining the level of cortisol in the blood, the time of onset of an attack and taking into account the moment of onset of an attack in a dream.
