FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to colour television systems, particularly to video signal converter. Said result is achieved by digital conversion of three input signals: red, green, and blue into four output signals: red, yellow, blue and violet. Conversion is performed by one adder and three multipliers. Output signals of the converter control the brightness of the red, yellow, blue, and violet micro-emitters of the pixel of the four-color display. Converter (60) consists of: conductor (55), through which input signal of red r without change is transmitted to output of red R; yellow multiplier (56), in which input green signal g is multiplied by coefficient KY; violet multiplier (57), in which an input signal of blue b is multiplied by a coefficient KV; adder (58), in which input signals of green g and blue b are added to the sum of blue ΣC; cyan multiplier (59), in which the sum of cyan ΣC is multiplied by 0.5, where constant KY=KV=cos(30)≈0.8660254037844386.
EFFECT: providing compatibility of three-color coding of digital television with direct reproduction of encoded colour in four-color display.
