FIELD: radio engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in solving problems of passive location of atmospheric natural and man-made pulsed sources of electromagnetic radiation. In the disclosed method, the entire observation interval of the input signal is divided into a number of gates, period of which approximately coincides with average value of duration of detected pulses. Then, in-gate processing is carried out by performing direct Fourier transform within each gate. Amplitude spectrum and differential amplitude spectrum are calculated and weighted by normalized amplitude reference spectrum. Then energy characteristic is estimated and its value is compared with threshold value.
EFFECT: high probability of detecting random pulses in the very low frequency range in a continuous data stream from a receiving radio device while simultaneously reducing the flow of false alarms.
