FIELD: various technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of inorganic pigments from steel wire-rope production wastes and can be used mainly in the construction industry in the manufacture of pigments for painting construction materials, such as small-piece products in the form of concrete paving slabs or paving stones and curb stones, as well as varnishes, paints and others. Method of producing iron oxide pigments from steel wire-rope production wastes includes drying and grinding of wastes. Before grinding, the wastes are mixed with water in equal weight ratios for 5–10 minutes. Obtained mass is mixed for 5–7 minutes with 5 wt. % sodium bicarbonate solution at a weight ratio of steel wire-rope production wastes : NaHCO3 = 1:0.05 and washed under water pressure. Milling is carried out simultaneously with drying at 200 °C.
EFFECT: obtaining a pigment which increases strength of cement mortars and concrete.
