METHOD FOR REMOVING HEAVY SILICONE OIL FROM VITREAL CAVITY FOR EYES WITH HIGH MYOPIA Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC A61F9/07

Abstract RU 2821827 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to ophthalmosurgery. Heavy silicone oil is removed from the vitreal cavity for eyes with high myopia with anteroposterior size of eye more than 27 mm. Three scleral ports are made: one port for infusion, the second port for the endo-illuminator, and the third port for manipulations. Aspiration is performed; the end of the aspiration cannula is located within the oil bladder; by means of external sclera pressing and visualization the bladder is constantly directed to the cannula tip. Fractional removal of oil in amount of 1–1.5 ml is performed, after which aspiration is stopped so that the end of the aspiration cannula reaches the meniscus of the oil bladder. Further, the syringe is emptied and oil aspiration is resumed until the heavy silicone oil is completely removed. In a particular case, aspiration is carried out at vacuum of 600–650 mmHg.

EFFECT: method enables reducing operational and postoperative complications in removing fluorosilicone oil for eyes with high myopia.
