FIELD: computer engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer engineering for specifying a geographic location to a user. Result is achieved due to a computer-implemented method of indicating a geographic location to a user, comprising steps of: recognizing in the text content an address expression starting with at least one special character; formation of a geo-link based on the recognized address expression; highlighting the recognized address expression when displaying text content; and when the highlighted recognized address expression is pressed, the mapping information display means is launched by the geo-link. In addition, the proposed method using a means of displaying cartographic information in a user computing device comprises: obtaining an address expression by a geo-link; transmitting the address expression to the geo-encoding means; obtaining from geo-encoding means of geographical coordinates of latitude and longitude corresponding to address expression; and based on the obtained coordinates, displaying the geographic location on the map.

EFFECT: simplifying the process of providing cartographic information.
