FIELD: hydraulic engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to construction of bank protection and bank protection structures. Method of wave suppression consists in the fact that two types of wave absorbers are used: wave absorbers with vertical tubes (WAVT) and wave absorbers with swirling wells (WASW) by combining and combining them into sections. Wave absorbers are arranged in a row in the zone of breaking waves along the coast at the sea bottom, combining them by 3–6 pieces in sections with minimum technological gaps between the breakers. In each section WASW are arranged between WAVT. Gaps with width equal to width of one or two wave absorbers are created between sections.
EFFECT: invention provides protection and reclamation of beach areas by formation of helical currents with vertical and horizontal axes of rotation on WAVT and WASW, respectively, and using the effect of periodicity of wave arrival with uplift of sediments from the bottom level to the surface, by holding them in this position and their washing by the next incoming wave to the shore, preventing the sediments washed away by the wave back into the sea by capturing them by the WASW, rising to the surface of the stream and washing by the incoming wave back to the shore.
