FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medicine, namely to a method of assisting in the management of drug therapy of diabetes and a device for its implementation. Data on glucose of the individual are obtained in the data processing unit. Glucose data contain fasting glucose values, as well as coinciding glucose values before meals and after meals. Fasting glucose threshold, a postprandial glucose threshold, a hypoglycaemic threshold and a maximum number of tolerable hypoglycaemic events are determined. Glucose measurement values are analysed using a processing unit. That is ensured by determining the first and second statistical parameters indicating the deviation between the fasting and postprandial glucose values and the corresponding threshold values. Hyperglycaemia prevalence index is defined as the ratio of the first statistical parameter to the second one. Number of hypoglycaemic events is determined by comparing the glucose measurement values with the corresponding threshold values. Providing assistance in the management of drug therapy of diabetes based on the results of the analysis, as well as the action of the drugs for diabetes on fasting and after meals, efficacy indices in hyperglycaemia of drugs and risks of hypoglycaemia from diabetes drugs. Assisting in management involves a recommendation for addition of an additional drug for diabetes and comparing the risk that the current agent will cause hypoglycaemia and risks that other agents will cause hypoglycaemia. Recommended alternative drug for replacement of the current drug is associated with a lower risk of hypoglycaemia compared to the current drug.
EFFECT: higher reliability of personalized management of diabetes drug therapy by a general practitioner, and not only by a diabetes specialist.
