FIELD: measurement technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of determining interlayer shear strength of flat samples of fiber-reinforced polymer composite materials. Method of determining interlayer shear strength of composite materials with a polymer matrix consists in the fact that shear deformations are created, which are obtained by applying a tensile load at an angle to the axis of orthotropy of each layer of the fiber-reinforced composite material. Tracking and fixation of the moment of occurrence of cracks in samples corresponding to interlayer shift is carried out using a microscope. Ultimate strength at interlayer shear is a value equal to the ratio of the absolute breaking force to the cross-sectional area of the sample.
EFFECT: enabling determination of interlayer shear strength of samples of different overall dimensions of composite materials with a single-, two- and polyphase polymer matrix at different angle of load application to orthotropy axis, increase of accuracy of test results interpretation and determination of shear modulus.
