FIELD: transportation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to elements of cable systems, in particular to means for moving a carriage of a space cable elevator (SCE). Body of the proposed manipulator (M) is a SCE carriage and has two arms, each of which is made of two tubular structures connected according to the scheme of hinged rhombuses with variable apex angles. In units between rhombuses there installed are electric motors with locking (according to commands or program) rotors. Designs of M arm grippers contain large and small limiting rings, pairs of pins with branches and springs fixed on them. SCE cable is clamped between the pins. Gripping and unclamping of pins is synchronized with movement of carriage along cable, besides, cable is alternately clamped by grippers of two arms of M so that arms are simultaneously straightened, then contracted. To soften the grip and reduce abrasion of the cable, a tape of phenylon or neoprene moving along the gripping planes is used.
EFFECT: increased durability, energy and operational characteristics of cable system with proposed M.
