FIELD: analytical chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method for rapid detection of surface contamination with phenol, which includes applying an indicator formulation from an aerosol device to the surface of the object, made in the form of a sealed bottle filled with an indicator formulation, which is 0.5% aqueous solution of ferric chloride, and a spray pump, by spraying the formulation by pressing the sprayer pump head for 1–2 s with subsequent visual observation of appearance on surface of object in presence of phenol of characteristic colouring, wherein the design of the spray pump used is due to the presence of a button, a housing of the spray pump, a gasket, a piston, locking device housing, locking ball, locking device base, spring, valve housing and intake tube provides spraying of indicator formula in form of monodisperse aerosol.

EFFECT: invention enables rapid detection of phenol on a surface, increased convenience of operation, storage, transportation, placement and use of aerosol device, increased service life, clear indication effect and provides multiple use.
