FIELD: medicine; ophthalmology.
SUBSTANCE: trepanobiopsy of orbital neoplasms is performed in open orbitotomy by means of computer and/or magnetic resonance imaging of the orbit followed by insertion of a biopsy needle into the orbital neoplasm. First an orbitotomy is conducted with a transconjunctival approach for diagnostic purposes, wherein a blepharostat is inserted; a conjunctiva is dissected in a projection of the formation with conjunctival scissors. Further, Tenon's membrane is dissected, an orbit is entered with a blunt approach, the formation is visualized, a biopsy needle is inserted into the new growth of the orbit, the material is sampled, hemostasis and layer-by-layer closure of the wound defect are performed.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to increase accuracy of needle insertion into an orbit and into an orbital neoplasm and to reduce traumatization of intraorbital structures.
