FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and can be used for diagnostics of tumours and tumour-like diseases of an orbit. That is ensured by trephine biopsy of orbital neoplasms in open orbitotomy with the help of computer and/or magnetic resonance imaging of the orbit. Orbitotomy is pre-performed for diagnostic purposes by a transcutaneous approach. Access borders in the projection of the new growth are marked on the skin of the upper eyelid. Blade is used to perform a linear incision and haemostasis. Underlying soft tissues are separated by a blunt method. Then the tarzoorbital fascia is opened bluntly and sharply. New growth is visualized. Biopsy needle is inserted into the orbital neoplasm, and the material is sampled. Haemostasis and layer-by-layer wound defect closure are performed.
EFFECT: invention provides higher accuracy of needle insertion into the orbit and into the orbital neoplasm with reduced traumatisation of intraorbital structures.
