SUBSTANCE: method of determining a hyperframe number (HFN) of a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) object, performed by a terminal device, includes receiving indication information transmitted by a network device, wherein the indication information includes HFN information, and determination of the HFN value of the PDCP object based on the HFN information. Determining the HFN value of the PDCP object based on the HFN information includes determining the HFN value of the PDCP object based on the HFN information when the applicable condition for the HFN information is satisfied.

EFFECT: high reliability of data transmission and reduced power consumption caused by blind determination of the HFN hyperframe number.
