SUBSTANCE: group of inventions can be used to search for vulnerabilities on a virtual machine disk located in a cloud provider. Method of searching for vulnerabilities on a virtual machine disk comprises steps of: at least once forming a copy of the file system of the virtual machine disk at a given moment in time by means of a data access program interface (API) of a cloud provider; creating a new disk from said copy of the file system by means of a cloud provider API and mounting it to a separate virtual machine; performing disk analysis on said separate virtual machine, wherein analysis comprises: compiling a list and versions of installed software (SW) on said virtual machine; and searching for vulnerabilities in the operating system and software on said virtual machine.

EFFECT: high efficiency of searching for security problems on virtual machines in a user infrastructure located in a public cloud service.
