FIELD: alumina products.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a new method for producing silica-alumina and to silica-alumina obtained in accordance with the method of the invention. The method includes obtaining a suspension of alumina, adding a first source of silicon dioxide to a suspension of alumina, hydrothermal aging, drying and calcining the resulting suspension of silicon dioxide-alumina. Then, a solution containing a second source of silicon dioxide is added to the obtained silica-alumina intermediate. Moreover, the second source of silicon dioxide is chemically different from the first source of silicon dioxide. The resulting resuspended silica - alumina - is dried and calcined.

EFFECT: improved performance of the final silica-alumina product, in particular, a product having improved heat resistance and purity.
