SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing an adsorbent in a shaft-type apparatus by supplying air blast from below and ignition of a coal layer from above is carried out in two steps, at the first air blast is supplied in amount of 150–600 m3/(m2·h), and at the second stage, water vapor is added to the blast in an amount of up to 100 kg/(m2·h). Invention also envisages simultaneous use of at least four apparatus with equal phase shifts of the process. Method is characterized by the fact that the second stage of the process is carried out cyclically, by command, by supplying superheated steam with temperature of 450–500 °C and its spraying above the layer, with a consumption of at least 1.5–4.5 kg/kg of the finished product, depending on the initial moisture content of the raw material, and the steam supply command is executed when a signal is received and processed from one of the levels, which reaches the coal combustion layer when moving from top to bottom, with layer temperature of not less than 1,000 °C.
EFFECT: broader technological capabilities of producing adsorbents with stable parameters of sorption capacity from solid carbon-containing materials of organic origin with different initial moisture content of the raw material, preventing sintering, simplifying the technology and reducing costs.
