FIELD: measuring.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement equipment and navigation on geophysical fields and can be used in determining (refining) coordinates of the location of an underwater vehicle (UV). Magnetic field (MF) induction vector component values measurement at the magnetometer external relative to the UV sensor location point, elimination of influence on results of measurements of self-contained MF of UV using current values of components of magnetic moment (MM) of UV and determining (refining) coordinates of the location of the UV by comparing the components of the Earth's magnetic field, obtained from the measurement results and read from the current digital magnetic map of the World Ocean region.

EFFECT: refining coordinates of UV at sufficiently simple method of implementation of the method and its mathematical apparatus, based on standard measurement procedures, and use of solutions of direct field problem – determination of MF parameters by value of MM of MF source.
