SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a fluid-to-fluid contact operation wherein two fluids are brought into close contact to facilitate mass transfer between fluids, reaction between components in fluids, or both. Method of mass transfer from a fluid medium to a fluid medium may include introduction of a fluid medium containing a first immiscible phase and a second immiscible phase into a contacting vessel, which includes several contacting stages: passing fluid through a first bundle of fibres arranged in a contacting vessel, separating at least a portion of the first immiscible phase from the second immiscible phase and passing the separated portion of the first immiscible phase through a second bundle of fibres located in the contacting vessel.
EFFECT: increased area of contact between fluids during contact of fluid medium with fluid medium.
