FIELD: weapons and ammunition.
SUBSTANCE: flame arrester of small arms includes a housing in which grooves are made. Housing has outlet chamber diameter equal to diameter of axial channel with three or four evenly spaced oblique grooves along the entire length of outlet chamber. Each groove on one side has a radial end and is open on the opposite side, the groove centre on the side of the radial end and the open end are displaced uniformly in different directions from the axis of the flame arrester. Length of each groove is from 19% to 23% of length of step of rifled barrel of small arms.
EFFECT: elimination of powder gas burning at the outlet of the barrel muzzle, elimination of visible flash of a shot from firearms, reduction of recoil of firearms and toss of barrel muzzle.
