FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of converting non-biodegradable polymer granules made from at least one of: PE, PP, PET, nylon, polystyrene, polycarbonate or combinations thereof, into biodegradable polymer granules. Method comprises applying a coating on a partial or complete surface of granules, wherein the coating is a composition containing enzymes obtained from food biological sources, such as plants or vegetables, and which attract microbes to the surface of the granules, followed by drying or curing the coating, wherein the method is carried out during production of granules in an underwater granulator by mixing the composition based on enzymes in circulating cooling water or in a tank for cooling strands with subsequent cutting of strands into granules.
EFFECT: providing a method of producing granules containing an enzyme-based coating, which requires a substantially smaller amount of an enzyme-based composition, since the compositions are applied only on the surface of the granules.
