SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication technologies and, in particular, to a service processing method and device. Method of processing a service involves obtaining service data and encoding said data to obtain encoded service data. Encoded service data contain control information and service data information. According to the service processing method, the control information is mapped to the OTN transmission frame overhead area, checking control information and mapping the verification information to the overhead area of the OTN transmission frame, mapping the service data information to the payload area of the OTN transmission frame and sending the OTN transmission frame carrying the encoded service data. When stream of 257b code blocks is mapped to an OSUflex frame, an indication of the type of the code block is mapped to the overhead area of the OSUflex frame, four 66b code blocks from which synchronization headers have been removed are mapped to the payload region of the OSUflex frame, and the verification information obtained by verifying the control information is mapped to the overhead area of the OSUflex frame so that bit error protection is performed for the control information. When a bit error occurs, the receiving side can detect the error in a timely manner, preventing the receiving side from processing the erroneous data packet as a correct data packet, thereby improving transmission reliability.
