FIELD: electrochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrochemistry, particularly to an anode for electrolysis of solutions of chlorides of alkali metals. Anode contains a metal substrate with layers deposited thereon. First layer is formed by tin and cerium oxides, the second active catalytic layer is formed by iridium, tin and cerium oxides, and the outer third protective layer is formed by platinum metal and iridium oxide. First layer contains from 1 to 20 wt.% of cerium and from 80 to 99 wt.% of tin, second layer contains from 30 to 60 wt.% of iridium, from 30 to 60 wt.% of tin and from 1 to 20 wt.% of cerium, and the outer third layer contains from 60 to 99 wt.% of platinum and from 1 to 40 wt.% of iridium in terms of metals. Each layer is formed by multiple application, drying and calcination of the corresponding mixture of precursors.
EFFECT: increased service life of anode for electrolytic extraction of chlorine, including in alkaline solutions, and capacity for reversible electrolysis process.
