FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to heterogeneous catalysis of reactions involving hydrogen, particularly to a method of producing a catalyst and can be used for ortho-para conversion of protium. Described is a method of producing a catalyst for isotope exchange of protium-deuterium and ortho-para conversion of protium, including treatment of the surface of the catalyst support to obtain metal nanoparticles on the highly developed surface of the support during chemical reduction of metal ions, wherein the surface of the support is treated with an aqueous solution of a palladium salt, followed by reduction of metal nanoparticles with an aqueous solution of sodium hypophosphite, further, a chemical composite coating of nickel-phosphorus-thullium oxide and repeated deposition of palladium nanoparticles are carried out.

EFFECT: high catalytic activity of the catalyst with respect to ortho-para conversion of protium and simple process of preparing the catalyst.
