FIELD: various technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of producing a platinum composite on a thermally treated graphene oxide support, which includes two steps. At 1st stage, thermally treated graphene oxide is obtained, for which 10 wt.pts. graphite is dispersed in 1,147 wt.pts. 96 wt.% sulphuric acid, for which graphite and sulphuric acid are mixed and stirred for 30 minutes, then potassium permanganate is added in portions for oxidation of graphite – four times by 9 wt.pts., in total 36 wt.pts., with constant stirring, completion of oxidation is determined by disappearance of green colour, then the obtained mixture is diluted with 1,300 wt.pts. ice/water mixture in weight ratio 1:1, 18 wt.pts. 30 wt.% hydrogen peroxide solution are added for converting manganese by-products into soluble colourless Mn (II) ions, then the mixture is centrifuged, the obtained precipitate is dissolved in water and stirred for 60 minutes, then centrifuged again, then performing successively cleaning cycles: first time washed with distilled water, then three times with aqueous solution of 4 wt.% hydrochloric acid, then graphene oxide is dried in air and annealed in an inert gas current at temperature of 600 °C for 30 minutes. At stage 2, a platinum composite is obtained on a support from thermally treated graphene oxide, for which 0.2 wt.% Pt4+ isopropanol solution of platinum (IV) nitrate is prepared, for which 23.7 wt.pts. 15 wt.% Pt4+ platinum (IV) nitrate solution are taken and diluted with 1,572 wt.pts. isopropanol with stirring, then 10-12 wt.pts. thermally treated graphene oxide obtained at step 1, are taken and dispersed in 1,600 wt.pts. isopropanol or ethylene glycol using an ultrasonic bath for 60-120 minutes, then isopropanol solution of platinum (IV) nitrate is added to isopropanol or ethylene glycol dispersion of thermally treated graphene oxide with constant stirring in weight ratio Pt4+ : thermally treated graphene oxide = 1:4, obtained mixture is either stirred at room temperature for 24 hours to a homogeneous composition, or heated to 80 °C and stirred for 6 hours to a homogeneous composition – in case of using isopropanol as a solvent; or heated to 80 °C with constant stirring for 2 hours, then temperature is increased to 180 °C and stirred at this temperature for 2 hours until a homogeneous composition is obtained – in the case of using ethylene glycol as a solvent, then the mixture is filtered and washed with isopropanol, the precipitate is air-dried.
EFFECT: invention increases catalytic efficiency of the composite, provides uniform distribution of platinum nanoparticles, improves processability of the method and its environmental friendliness.
