FIELD: active noise reduction systems.
SUBSTANCE: method includes steps of: obtaining a digitized noise signal from an environment in which there is a stream of audio signals; receiving a data sample from the digitized noise signal; adding one or more additional samples to the data sample to form a sequence of samples, wherein the value for each of said one or more additional samples is substantially zero; calculating a representation of the sequence of samples in the frequency domain; performing a frequency-domain shift of a representation of a sequence of samples in time using a digital processor circuit, thereby creating a shifted representation of the sequence of samples in the frequency domain; converting the shifted representation of the sequence of samples from the frequency domain to the time domain to form part of the anti-noise signal; and outputting the anti-noise signal to the audio signal stream to reduce noise due to destructive interference.
EFFECT: high frequency resolution and, as a result, high efficiency of noise reduction.
