SUBSTANCE: system for heating smoking material. A smoking article for use with a device for heating smoking material for vaporizing at least one component of smoking material includes a volume of smoking material and an assembly device containing a cooling segment for cooling at least one vaporized smoking material component, where the cooling segment contains a hollow tube defining an air gap, and a mouthpiece segment which is configured to be positioned in the user's mouth and through which the user can inhale at least one vaporized smoking material component after it has been cooled by the cooling segment. The cooling segment is provided with a ventilation area to allow air to pass into the cooling segment when the smoking article is inserted into the device. The cooling segment is configured to provide a temperature difference that is at least 40 degrees Celsius between the heated vaporized component entering the first end of the cooling segment and the heated vaporized component exiting the second end of the cooling segment. The temperature sensitive filtration segment is protected from the high temperatures of the smoking material.

EFFECT: filtering action is provided for the heated vaporized material while reducing the size of condensed aerosol particles that are derived from the heated vaporized material, thereby reducing irritation and throat damage from the heated vaporized material.
