FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, in particular to a method of producing nitrogen-containing ligatures based on chromium and manganese using self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS). It can be used for production of ligatures used in metallurgy for alloying with nitrogen of steels and alloys for various purposes. Powders of initial metals, including the main powder selected from manganese, chromium, ferromanganese, ferrochrome, silicomanganese, and auxiliary powder, selected from titanium, silicocalcium, ferrosilicon, ferrovanadium, aluminium-magnesium powder, are separately placed into the SHS reactor for nitriding. SHS reactor is sealed and filled with nitrogen to pressure of 0.2-16.0 MPa. Auxiliary powder is ignited and nitrated in SHS mode, then the main powder is ignited from the burnt auxiliary powder. Nitrogen for maintaining the nitriding process of the main powder in the SHS mode enters the zone of its combustion through the burnt layer of the auxiliary powder.
EFFECT: providing the possibility of obtaining nitrogen-containing ligatures based on metals of VI-VIII groups of the periodic table at minimum power consumption, intended mainly for alloying stainless steels and alloys with nitrogen.
