FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, particularly to a method of producing nitrogen-containing chromium-based ligatures using self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS). It can be used in metallurgy for alloying chromium steels and alloys with nitrogen. Initial charge with porosity of 45-65 vol.%, consisting of powder of chromium and/or its alloys with iron and/or silicon, containing not more than 0.5 wt.% of carbon, preheated to 60-660 °C. Heated charge is placed into a high-pressure SHS reactor, the working space of the SHS reactor is sealed and filled with nitrogen with purity of not less than 99.0 vol.% to pressure of 0.2-16.0 MPa. Then the charge is ignited, initiating an exothermic reaction, and the charge is saturated with nitrogen in the SHS mode with formation of chromium nitrides.
EFFECT: obtaining ligatures based on chromium with high content of nitrogen with minimum power consumption.
