SUBSTANCE: method includes the following steps: determining the state of a local timer of a first type on a transmitting terminal corresponding to a receiving terminal, wherein the receiving terminal is a terminal which exchanges data with the transmitting terminal via a direct connection. Stopping the operation of the local timer of the first type is carried out after detecting that the transmitting terminal transmits, over a direct connection, discontinuous reception DRX control element (CE) of a medium access control (MAC) protocol to the receiving terminal, wherein the direct connection DRX MAC CE control element is configured to indicate to the receiving terminal a command to enter the inactive state, or the first type of local timer is stopped after detecting that the transmitting terminal transmits the DRX MAC CE control element over the direct connection to the receiving terminal and after receiving feedback information sent from the receiving terminal indicating successful reception of the DRX MAC CE control element transmitted over the direct connection.
EFFECT: reduction of data transmission error and reduction of energy loss.
