FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of optically transparent ceramics with apatite structure, which can be used as material for optical lenses, as well as a functional carrier material for optoelectronic and photonics devices, such as lasers and white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs). Nanopowder of complex sodium lanthanum germanate of composition NaLa9(GeO4)6O2 is used as a mixture for obtaining optically transparent ceramics. Method of producing optically transparent ceramics based on complex sodium lanthanum germanate of composition NaLa9(GeO4)6O2, involves hot pressing of nanopowder of composition NaLa9(GeO4)6O2 at pressure of 2-8 GPa, at temperature 600-610 °C for 10-20 minutes with a temperature rise rate of 100-110 °C/min, and then quenching by abrupt reduction of temperature to room temperature. Total light transmission of the obtained transparent ceramic NaLa9(GeO4)6O2 at wavelength 500 nm (visible spectral range) is 55%, at wave length 1,200 nm (infrared range) – 74%.
EFFECT: wider range of materials used as optically transparent ceramics.
