FIELD: ceramic materials.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the production of refractory ceramic materials, in particular to the production of non-porous ceramics, transparent in the UV, visible and IR spectra. The technical result of the claimed invention is achieved by the fact that the method for producing optically transparent ceramics based on aluminium oxynitride includes preparing a reaction mixture of aluminium powders, aluminium oxide and magnesium perchlorate in a ball mill, placing the mixture in a reactor and carrying out self-propagating high-temperature synthesis in a nitrogen environment, pressing the mixture, sintering in a high-temperature oven in a nitrogen environment, with no more than 25 wt.% of magnesium oxide and no more than 0.5 wt.% mixture of yttrium and lanthanum oxides as a sintering additive. The nitrogen pressure in the reactor is maintained in the range of 0.5-10 MPa, and sintering is carried out in a nitrogen environment at a temperature of 1800-1950°C, while the sintering duration is no less than 10 hours and no more than 20 hours.
EFFECT: production of highly transparent optical ceramics with a light transmission of more than 70% for a sample 3 mm thick based on aluminium oxynitride powders.
