FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to psychiatry, and can be used for differential diagnosis of bipolar affective disorder and unipolar depression. Method involves recording and visual assessment of an electroencephalogram in a state of calm relaxed wakefulness with closed eyes. Calculation according to the declared formula with the Y value determination. If the Y value is equal to 0.5 or more, bipolar affective disorder is diagnosed. If Y is less than 0.5, unipolar depression is diagnosed.
EFFECT: method enables fast, accurate and objective differential diagnosis of affective disorders of bipolar and unipolar spectrum.
