FIELD: nuclear engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear engineering and concerns the improvement of the design of fuel elements. Fuel element contains a cylindrical shell from zirconium alloy “Э110” o.ch. or “Э110М” with length 3,946±1 mm, with outer diameter of 9.10±0.04 mm and wall thickness 0.585±0.05 mm, upper and lower plugs, fuel column placed in the shell with the height of each fuel pellet 11±1 mm, outer diameter 7.8±0.03 mm and total weight of all fuel pellets 1,825,120 g, and a spring retainer arranged in the shell, made in the form of a cylindrical spring and consisting of coils of the compensating group, buffer coils and coils of the fixing group. Fuel pellets of the active part of the fuel column are made of uranium dioxide with uranium-235 content from 0.1 to 5 wt.%, and fuel pellets of the upper and lower blank parts of the fuel column are made of uranium dioxide with content of uranium-235, which is less than in the active part. Fuel element length is 3,978±2 mm.
EFFECT: invention increases efficiency of a water-water energetic nuclear reactor while maintaining reliability and safe operation of the fuel element.
