FIELD: nuclear engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to fuel elements (heat-producing elements) of a VVER-1200 reactor. Fuel element comprises a cylindrical shell with length of 4,000±5 mm, made of zirconium alloy E110 ON, upper and lower plugs welded to the shell, fuel column with weight from 1,600 to 1,800 g, assembled from fuel pellets, spring retainer arranged in shell and made in the form of cylindrical spring. End of the lower plug is a blind collet with external and internal cylindrical surfaces and one longitudinal slot; a collar is made on the external surface of the free end of the collet. Fuel pellets are made from REMIX fuel based on regenerated uranium and plutonium with addition of enriched natural uranium.
EFFECT: increased energy efficiency and fuel burn-up with preservation of reliability and safe operation of fuel elements of VVER, improving reliability and simplifying the process of assembling fresh fuel assemblies, providing a closed plutonium cycle and reducing consumption of natural uranium.
